Castelnou
- L'Ancien Presbytère
The
Village
The tiny fortified
village of Castelnou nestles beneath it's ancient castle, in the
foothills of Mt Canigou. Little has changed in the village since
medieval times with the narrow, twisting, cobbled streets and picturesque
houses seeming to grow out of the hillside. The village overlooks
a quiet valley and the surrounding hills and yet is only a few minutes
by car from the lively market town of Thuir.
L'Ancien Presbytère
The old presbytery
is one of the larger houses in the village and has recently been
renovated. It stands on the lower street, looking towards the valley.
A door from a narrow stepped alley leads into a vestibule and the
front door of the house is at the top of a few slate stairs. The
house comfortably accomodates between 2 to seven people.

and light, with a large dining table, fireplace with original vaulted
bread oven (don't worry, a bread van calls at the village daily!)
and a woodburning stove.

Bedroom: with large
double bed and ensuite WC and shower.

and airy with comfortable seating, antique iron bed that doubles
as day bed or extra sleeping accomodation. Television (UK reception),
